Ville Vallaton on saanut alkunsa Hank Ketchamin sarjakuvista ja maailmalla hahmo tunnetaan alkuperäisellä nimellään Dennis The Menace. Ville Vallaton sai ensimmäisen piirrosanimaationsa vuonna 1986 ja sitä julkaistiin kahden kauden verran.
Sarjan jaksot koostuvat kolmesta lyhyemmästä tarinasta ja käytännössä kunkin tarinan voi katsoa yksistään, koska sarjassa ei ole jatkuvaa juonta.

Ville Vallaton asuu äitinsä Liisan ja isänsä Heikin kanssa Yrjö ja Martta Karjusen naapureina. Suurin osa sarjan vitseistä syntyy siitä, että Ville pitää Yrjöä parhaana ystävänään, mutta Yrjö ei voi sietää Villen rasavilliä luonnetta. Mukana on tietysti myös muita lapsihahmoja.
Suomessa sarjaa on nähty television lisäksi myös VHS-kaseteilla ja DVD-julkaisuina. Videoita ovat julkaiseet Screenet ja Future Film.
Screenet on vastuussa neljästä ensimmäisestä kasetista ja ne on helppo tunnistaa osana OMAXI-sarjaa. Screenetin dubbauksesta vastaa Golden Voice. Valitettavasti Screenetin jaksoleikkaukset ovat huttua sillä ensimmäisestä ja neljännestä kasetista puuttuvat jaksojen nimet kokonaan. Onneksi ne on kuitenkin helppo arvata.
Future Film julkaisi seitsemän kasettia ja noissa videoissa dubbauksesta vastasi PVP Voice. Näissä kaseteissa jaksot vastaavat enemmän televisiossa nähtyä rakennetta siten, että jokaisella jaksolla on alku- ja lopputunnarinsa ja yksittäisillä tarinoilla oma jaksokorttinsa alussa.
DVD-julkaisuja en ole vielä hankkinut. Minulle on tosin Amazonista tulossa kaikki jaksot kattava boksi alkuperäiskielellä, mutta myös suomeksi dubattuja DVD-julkaisuja näyttää olevan hyvin saatavilla sekä uutena että käytettynä.
Kaikista jaksoista en löytänyt virallisia suomennoksia, joten käytän niiden englanninkielisiä nimiä. Lisään suomennokset kun saan niitä käsiini. Jaksot olisi helppo suomentaa itse, mutta se voi tehdä keräilystä liian sekavaa. Siksi pitäydyn vain virallisissa käännöksissä.
